Dye Atelier
Give your wardrobe and home linens
a second life!
The atelier offers a hands-off solution to up-cycling your clothes & home linens (sheets, towels, cushions) with natural dyes & delicate Shibori or Eco-prints.
Simply choose your designs from our samples, drop off your clothes & pickup your renewed pieces within 10 days.
Natural dyeing in small batches helps contribute to the reduction of textile pollution in two ways. Firstly, by avoiding the use of highly toxic materials and secondly, by keeping used textiles out of the garbage with a second life.
Our natural dye services are available for individual pieces and by bulk. We are also open to collaborating on larger batches.
We dye anything from a single piece of clothes to small bulk orders
Natural dyes offer endless possibilities, but there are a few things to keep in mind when considering our services:
Natural dyes work best on natural fibres.
The include cellulose fibres (e.g. cotton, linen, hemp, viscose, lyocell) or protein fibres (e.g. silk, wool, cashmere). Polyester blends can work at low levels (<30%), but results may vary more, and can only be dyed with Indigo (specialty dye).
Our dye services will be open in the Cabarete/Sosua area for a limited time only.
We'll be taking orders from March 6th-April 11th.
I operate from a tiny home studio.
Please be patient and understanding when it comes to our production capacity. Larger orders may be discussed as commissions or collaborations.

Workshops
Learn millennia-old methods for extracting color from plants & earths
I've always liked that old saying about teaching a (wo)man to fish, and truly believe that getting your hands a little dirty to provide things for yourself is a noble endeavour.
I offer workshops, both introductory and more advanced, to delve into the world of natural colours,
be it through dyes and textiles or pigments and paints.
Join me for one of our workshop sessions to connect with the power of the plants that surround us and earths we walk on everyday. Come and learn more about the arts of coaxing colours from nature, which were widely used up until about a little over
a hundred years ago.

Natural Art Supplies
Handmade 100% natural
art supplies
It was on my journey as an artist that I started to deeply question the nature of the materials I used in my daily practice, pushing me to adopt a more organic process that includes making art supplies from scratch using handmade binders and pigments processed from earths, plants & bugs.
As I continue to experiment and produce art supplies for my own personal needs, I make limited batches of my artisanal paints & oil pastels available for purchase.
I am currently offering watercolour paints made with pigments foraged in the DR. You can find me at the Natura Cabana and Sea Horse Ranch markets
or contact me directly.
About me
Hey, I'm Daphné,
I was born in France and grew up right here on the North Coast of the DR, where I fell in love with the abundance of nature this country provides us with.
As I've developed a self-taught art practice over the past few years, I've asked myself many questions about the form and function of art and also the supplies most widely used in contemporary art (such as acrylic paint).
I discovered the world of natural dyes & pigments when trying to understand how paint was made. Instead, I stumbled upon the ancient practices humans have used to coax colours from nature since the dawn of times. I'd love to share some of that magic with you
We are facing a global problem
Chemical dyes are evironmentally toxic
Dyeing is responsible for 3% of global CO2 emissions and over 20% of global water pollution.
Clothes are thrown away all too often
Items are worn only
7-10 times before being tossed. That’s a decline of more than 35% in just 15 years.
A lack of up-cycling creates tons of trash
Of the 100 billion garments produced per year, 92 million tonnes end up in landfills.
I'd like to be part of the local solution
Dyes directly
from nature
I only use natural dyes that are extracted from sustainably foraged and farmed plants. All local foraging is done with care for the eco-system.
Non-toxic
procedures
My mordanting and pattern creation processes are done in-house using low impact materials. You can request the list.
Local service
for local impact
Through these natural colours services, I hope to have a positive impact on the community and your wardrobes!
